The film "The pictures come at night" accompanies the former forced laborer Czeslawa Wölfel in her last months of life.
The old lady lives in a retirement home near Bielefeld. It is difficult for her to come to terms with her new home. Nobody really has time. And certainly no time to listen. It would be worth listening to stories from more than 80 years of German-Polish life, in which only violence and unconditional love for their children were reliable figures.
Czeslawa was born in Poland in 1927, she would have had the opportunity to go to high school. Instead, however, her way led to Germany - into forced labor.
The film is shaped by Czeslawa's relentless tales about her extraordinary, yet historically exemplary life. In turn, everyday observations are in the style of the Cinema Verité. The camera observes the family, who, despite great challenges, has maintained a loving attitude and their sense of humor. It is always close, but never judgmental. This was made possible by the filmmaker's close relationship of trust with the family members. She has been friends with Czeslawa's children for more than twenty years.

The premise involves a dance artist’s creative conflict in order to climb the ladder of perfection. The process is not done willingly, but with a pressure inflicted upon oneself to constantly be recognized and valued for one’s art. There is a tendency to become vulnerable day by day to outdo and outgrow from the narratives of artistic qualities, more deliberately. A battle with oneself, carrying the experiences, remembering to consciously focus on progress. The artist hits a saturation from only trying to focus on progress because performance is a moving average and the cycle of efforts not transforming into a part of one’s visible potential. The nuances are discovered through learning and unlearning. There is responsibility of movement, but the objective should be about experiencing joy instead of defining oneself through someone else’s narratives of what defines dance. There is unrest, but this unrest is growth by itself. There is no need to put a time stamp because this moment is unique, it’s a gift to oneself in space and time.

„One without a name, from an unknown society, his actions following a goal that only he knows. He invigorates. He leaves traces. He puts himself into action. Fashion video with social background. The idea of this video appeared against the backdrop of a huge scandal caused by the phrase of the host Regina Todorenko about a specific case of domestic violence: what did you do so that your husband would not beat you? This caused a storm of indignation in me. The image on the poster reflects the essence of my vision of this situation: a woman as an object of violence has turned into an accused. I developed this idea and put it in a fashion setting. The video shows how any self-expression of a woman is faced with condemnation and shaming. And even when a girl strips naked, condemning words are still found. She is judged for the courage to look the way she wants, for the courage to be herself. My attitude to this is reflected in the girl's reaction: rejection of this state of affairs. Because being yourself is not the privilege of the elite. This right is given to everyone from the moment of birth. Freedom in one's beliefs, love, choice makes a person complete. Be free inside and out. Take care yourself.

Marcus is clean shaven with a chiseled face as his hair is black with a high and tight hairstyle. Behind him, is a neon light of a sewing machine and a neon light of a hanger that displays: “The Best Cleaners in Town.” Marcus enters and stands across from JASON (late 20s), also of Chinese descent. He is clean shaven with dimples and black, slicked hair. Jason stays busy closing down the register and shuts down the dry cleaning machine as dozens and dozens of clothes on hangers come to a stop. Jason is closing the dry cleaners down. Marcus just stares at him as sweat drips down his forehead. Behind the both of them is a poster that displays: “30% off special on dry cleaning.” Marcus' eyes scan a nearby counter containing a few pictures in nice frames and looks at a picture frame of Jason, only in a pristine suit. His arm is around his beautiful bride, TIFFANY. She is in her mid-20s with curly, blonde hair, and rosy cheeks wearing an elegant white wedding dress. Jason holds up his pointer finger, referencing one moment. He walks away from the counter. Marcus has a tense look on his face. Jason is behind him and locks the front door of the dry cleaners. The owner walks away from the door as Marcus follows behind him. Suddenly, Marcus pulls out his GUN, but HESITATES for a brief moment before pulling the trigger. The moment of hesitation allows Jason to react quick enough and disarm Marcus. The GUN flies to the back room. Both men look at each other and they run towards the back. Jason seizes the opportunity and immediately rushes past Marcus towards the GUN. Marcus kicks Jason in the back of his legs and a fight ensues. The two battle for the GUN and get their hands on it. Jason tries to peel the GUN away from Marcus, but struggles to do so as Marcus slowly turns the GUN towards Jason. Jason has a sudden release of fury and disarms Marcus. The GUN falls on the floor. CLACK. Jason kicks the gun further out of reach. The two of them look at each other and both rush towards the GUN. Marcus inches closer to the GUN as he runs, but Jason grabs him by the collar and throws him on the ground. As madness consumes Jason, he begins to strangle Marcus. Marcus as the life begins to drain out of him. His eyes are bulging out, but he becomes focused. Jason squeezes tightly, but Marcus reverses the hold. Suddenly, Marcus gets out of the hold, and begins his crawl towards the GUN. Jason sees this and grabs Marcus by his legs. As Marcus is immobile, he turns onto his back and gives Jason a kick to the groin. Jason shudders, and drops Marcus’ legs. The two men get back to their feet as quickly as they can. Jason glances at Marcus with ANGER. A fist fight between Jason and Marcus breaks out. It is clear at this point that Jason has reached a new level of anger, and is ready to defend himself at any cost. The fist fight climatically ends with Jason getting the better of Marcus and knocking him to the ground. Fear starts to fill Marcus’ eyes as he slowly creeps backwards towards the GUN that is on the ground behind him. Jason catches his breath as he scans the room for anything he could potentially use as a weapon. Marcus grabs a hold of the GUN. Jason gives up on trying to find a weapon as his anger builds more and more. Jason rushes towards Marcus. CLICK. Marcus’ hands are placed on the GUN as he finishes switching out of safety. Jason looks at Marcus as utter fear enters his eyes. Marcus internally struggles with himself. PANG! A shot fires from the GUN. BLOOD SPATTER splashes onto Marcus’ face. Marcus is clearly distraught as he WEEPS over Jason’s body, and kisses him on the forehead. In the end, we come across a picture frame. Marcus has his arm around Jason, smiling. They are both in Iraq War military camouflage with a desert background and a mountain in the distance.
Rebirth of Venus is a short arthouse film by filmmaker and artist Robin Noorda, realised in stop-motion animation. This experimental film is based on a poem by Noorda about inequality and oppression. He addresses an array of manifestations of oppression causing the exploitation of nature and violation of human rights and especially women's rights. In Noorda's view, all these phenomena of oppression have a common denominator... The dilapidated and overgrown Piranesi-style buildings are inspired by the iconic architecture of two of the most totalitarian and predatory regimes in European history: the Roman Forum and the concrete structures of Nazi architect Albert Speer. In this magical-realistic setting, insect-like optical instruments create feminine statues that come to life. The miniature set is made of polystyrene packing material. Noorda was inspired by the architectural potential of some of the shapes in the waste material and decided to reuse it. It is a zero budget film.

The film, which unfolds at an almost real-time pace, begins with the middle-aged Suresh announcing his wedding to his (also middle-aged) friends. The announcement comes as a surprise as it does not tally with Suresh’s radical beliefs. Under sustained interrogation by the host (JP), his wife (Sindhu), Pradeep and Ravi, Suresh admits to consenting to the marriage only to please his mother, as in the case of most arranged marriages in India. The friendly banter throws serious questions on love, relationships, consent, individual choice and marriage.
