Z=1 is a short film that sheds a small spotlight on a huge topic, which is the Syrian refugees in the west. Influenced by the experiences of writer/director Bashaar Jouhar and many other syrian refugees. In the course of the film, we will follow the main character Mohammad, a chemical engineer from Syria, in a week of his life in Norway. Mohammad is trying to run from his past in war, by finding a human connection with a girl he likes hoping that this love will finally make him find a home he lost. “In this short film I wanted to talk briefly about the struggle of the Syrian people as refugees in the west. All the characters in the film are looking for something and running from another. The film will explore how the circumstances of each character will have a huge impact of their wants and needs. Being a refugee myself I had to go through many hard and new things, from the day the war broke out till today. one of them is trying to find a new home in a new country and new society. To find that no matter how much I try home will never be just replaced.” - Bashaar Jouhar
